Spintires: MudRunner: What is New?

I am a big fan of car and trucks simulation games, and we have previously analyzed a few of them before on Value Nomad. Some of them worth mentioning are Euro Truck Simulator 2 and BeamNG.Drive. Today we will analyze Spintires: MudRunner, one of the best selling offroad simulators currently available on Steam.

The story behind Spintires itself is quite interesting. It started in 2013, on Kickstarter. After being able to secure a good amount of money through this crowdfunding platform, the game was out in 2014. It became an instant success, as it is pretty innovative and there were very few games which could remotely be similar to the experience that Spintires offered.

Fast forward to late 2017 and the new release of Spintires: MudRunner once again had a huge success on Steam. The game has all the ingredients for a best-seller: it is fun, dynamic and it looks awesome. Not only that, the game is extremely light. I was extremely surprised to know that the initial download file was under 1 GB.

Spintires: MudRunner laptop requirements

Now let’s get to the system requirements for Spintires: MudRunner. According to Steam you need a Pentium Dual Core with a clock frequency of at least 2.0 GHz to run Spintires. On top of that need a NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT or equivalent and 2 GB RAM. Those are the minimum requirements. The NVIDIA GeForce 920M is a mobile card with a benchmark pretty similar to the 9600 GT. As for the laptop CPU, any i3 from the 6th generation (or superior) will do the trick.

If we analyze the recommended settings, the situation is a bit different. For a desktop you will need a Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5GHz or equivalent, 4 GB RAM, and a GeForce GTX 470 or anything above that. Comparing to laptop hardware with similar benchmark I would recommend the same, anything above an i3 from the 6th generation of Intel chips. As for GPUs, I would recommend a GTX 950M or above. However, you will be able to run it decently with less GPU processing than a 950M.

Considering the system requirements, we can say that Spintires: MudRunner is pretty light. Most probably you will be able to run it in nicely in mostly mid range laptops released in 2018.
