Are CHUWI Products Good?
CHUWI is a company from Southern China and has its headquarters in Shenzhen, one of the fast growing cities in the country. Just like Shenzhen, CHUWI is also a fast growing company and has been expanded its range of products and markets considerably.
The company main focus are mid-end tablets, but they also have some affordable laptop models. We have previously reviewed interested products from the brand on Value Nomad, such as: CHUWI Hi10 Pro and the CHUWI LapBook .
CHUWI Hi12 Tablet: Overview
This time, we have the CHUWI Hi12 a tablet, an affordable 12 incher with a great laptop setup.
One of the biggest advantages of this tablet PC is that it comes with Android 5.1 and Windows 10 pre-installed. For bigger tablets, I feel that Android can be restrictive, but on this device you can easily switch from its Android to Windows.
The CHUWI Hi12 Tablet has one of the largest battery autonomies among all current models from the brand. It has a battery capacity of 11000 mAh, which can last for up to 8 hours without charging.
CHUWI Hi12: Design
This tablet as a pretty good design, above the average for affordable 12 inch tablets. It has an all metal unibody that feels very sturdy, similar to hos of higher end devices.
Another advantage of this tablet is that if offers two colors. The deep gray version reviewed in this post, but also a golden version, which in my opinion is more visually appealing
You also have the option to buy a keyboard for your CHUWI Hi12, which improves the versatility of this device greatly. They keyboard itself is rather light and very easy to attach and use.
The Intel Cherry Trail Z8300
The Intel Atom Z8300 (Cherry Trail) is possible of the most recurrent processors among economic tablets reviewed on Value Nomad in 2016.
The Intel Cherry Trail Z8300 is a ultra low voltage quad core processor generally allowing tablets to have longer battery autonomy. It powers the CHUWI Hi12, as well as other energy efficient devices previously reviewed here, as the CHUWI LapBook and the Jumper EZpad 5SE.
It has a base frequency of 1.4 GHz and a maximum burst of 1.8 GHz. This processor is pretty efficient on the CHUWI Hi12, as it also comes with 4GB DDR3L RAM. This hardware setup is pretty dynamic for both Android and Windows use.
Storage and Connectivity
The CHUWI Hi12 has a good storage and an excellent connectivity for a 12 in tablet.
Just like most CHUWI devices, it comes with 64 GB eMMC storage, which is pretty good if you don’t plan to download large files. If you need more space, you can easily use te SD slot.
The connectivity offered by this tablet is above the average for similarly priced devices. It has 2 USB slots (one 2.0 and one 3.0) a part the usual TF card slot. It also has a micro HDMI and micro USB port.
Display
The resolution of this tablet is certainly one of its most impressive qualities. Its 12 inch screen has an IPS panel and a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels.
Verdict
If you want to buy an affordable 12 inch tablet, especially for watching videos, the CHUWI Hi12 is a great choice. With is beautiful design and high quality display and resolution, your hours of entertainment are endless.
However, I would recommend getting the keyboard as well, so you can also work with your CHUWI tablet.
