Dell Inspiron 5000 (5555) Overview
The two versions reviewed on this post (i5555-2866SLV and i5555-1428BLK) are part of the Dell Inspiron 5000 series. These specific versions are extremely appealing for some of its well balanced hardware features.
They both have 15.6″ inch HD touchscreens, which is really a cool feature, on mid levels laptop that are quite affordable. These versions also come with a DVD/CD reader and writer feature, which is disappearing in many laptops, but is still very important for some types of users.
Another interesting fact on these laptops is that instead of using the usual Intel chips, they are powered by AMD processors, which are quite efficient in terms of energy consumption.
Dell Inspiron i5555-2866SLV: Hardware Overview
This version comes with a AMD A10-8700P processor which has a frequency of 1.80 GHz and a maximum turbo of 3.2 GHz. This processor was released in 2015 and is comparable to some Intel 3 processors like the i3-6100u from the 6th generation and the Intel i3-5005u from the 5th generation in some aspects.
Another positive point about this model is that it comes with 8GB RAM, which is just ideal to guarantee that your Windows 10 will run smoothly, without influencing your workflow negatively.
Dell Inspiron i5555-1428BLK: Hardware Overview
The i555-1428BLK has a slightly inferior performance compared with the i5555-2866SLV even if its processor, the AMD A8-7410 has a slightly higher base frequency at 2.3 GHz. Just like the i5555-2866SLV, the i5555-1428BLK comes with 1TB hard drive disk. I consider this storage capacity to be more than enough for most type of users.
One slight disadvantage of the i555-1428BLK is that it has just 6GB RAM as opposed to 8GB on the i5555-2866SLV. However it is stil above what I consider recommended to have a good Windows 10 experience (4GB).
