Fastest Laptop Processors in 2016

On this post we will analyze the fastest laptop processors available in 2016, which is an essential information if you are looking to buy a laptop with high performance.

Buying a laptop can be rather complex, there are many hardware components that must be taken into account and match these requirements to your user needs. If you are into gaming or activities like video rendering, the speed of the processor is one of the main aspects you should consider when buying a new machine.

What are the Fastest Laptop Processors Today?

Combining the benchmar results for laptop processors from Futuremark and CPU Benchmark the fastest laptop processors are currently the following: i7-5950HQ, i7-4980HQ, i7-6820HK, i7-6920HQ and the i7-6700HQ. Other processors have had great benchmarks too, but I tried to combine the measurements from these 2 websites and also the relevance.

There is a big difference however between the first two: i7-5950HQ, i7-4980HQ and the other ones: the i7-6820HK, i7-6920HQ and the i7-6700HQ. The i7-6700HQ and the i7-6820HK are part of the latest generation of Intel processors dubbed Skylake. The others are also intel processors but from older generations.

That doesn’t mean that the older processors can be found on good value for the money laptops, they normally power high end computer and are quite expensive, so I strictly recommend you to buy one with the i7-6820HK, the i7-6700HQ or the i7-6920HQ.

Fastest Skylake Laptop Processor

Considering you should focus on a fast processor from the latest generation, you are left with three options: the i7-6700HQ, the i7-6820HK and the i7-6920HQ. As of March 2016, the i7-6820HK and the i7-6920HQ are present in only a few, top performance laptops, which can easily cost a few thousand dollars, while the i7-6700HQ is more popular and there is a great number of options to choose under 1000 US dollars.

    • XOTIC PC customizes MSI, ASUS, SAGER/CLEVO, and more for cheaper than anywhere else, including manufacturer websites. Their customer service is the absolute best customer service department I have ever dealt with. I personally would go with Sager/Clevo, but that’s my opinion. All of their brands I mentioned can have their RAM upgraded to 64GB, assuming you need 64GB’s for rendering HD quality videos or using overly massive sized files. Most do exceptionally well with 16GB’s, maybe 32GB’s at most for gaming (few games eat that much RAM), extensive amount of open windows tabs, etc. Sager is purposely designed and built for extremely easy upgrading their components. Plus their higher series have the i7-6700k normal speed is 4GHz and can be overclocked to 4.2GHz.
