What is Alienware?
Before getting to straight to the point and talk about the newest Alienware 13 released on the market for late 2015 / beginning of 2016 let’s give a brief introduction to the brand for those who haven’t heard about it yet.
Alienware was founded in the 90’s by Nelson Gonzalez and Alex Aguila, two entrepreneurs who decided to start a new company to assemble desktop computers, laptops and workstations.
The name Alienware was inspired by the founders’ interest in UFO related television series. This inspiration also permeates a number of products sold by Alienware, such as Area 51 and Aurora. The Scifi and Aliens are also present in the unique design of most of the products the company offers – which are quite awesome and much less boring than the usual looks most of the laptops have.
Alienware 13 Dimensions
The Alienware 13 is the smallest and the lightest of the Alienware laptops, it has a weight of just 4.5 pounds (2 kilos) and its dimenions are 12.9 inches long, 9.3 inches wide and just 1 inch tall, which makes of the Alienware 13 a very portable, yet portable device.
Alienware 13 Design
The Alienware 13, just like all the other Alienware laptops, have one of the most unique and beautiful designs in the market today. It’s smart, thin, beautiful and sturdy. The lip has a beautiful silver tone and Alienware mixes materials like plastic and carbon fiber to give a very robust look, helping the laptop to keep its fresh looks for a longer time.
The Alienware 13 like some of the best gaming laptops also has a backlit metal reinforced keyboard, to guarantee a smooth user experience even in the most crucial and stressful gaming sessions.
There is not even a single thing I would change on the design of this laptop.
Alienware 13 Specs
There are a number of different builts for the Alienware 13, but some amazing features are in all of these builds.
The Alienware 13 had 13 inch touchscreen, with a ridiculously high 2560 x 1440p display for optimal power for gaming. The newest models are powered by Intel’s 6th generation of processors named “Skylake” which have an improved benchmark from its predecessor – the Broadwell – series, while also save up to 30% more battery. The newest Alienware 13 models available on Amazon come with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M, and upper mid range graphics card for laptops.
Alienware 13 Graphics Amplifier
The Alienware famous Graphics amplifier is essentially a external graphics box to boost your Alienware laptop graphics perform. It costs roughly $300 and it increases your graphic processing quite greatly, even if your laptop already has a nice NVIDIA graphic card build-in. The main problem with using the Alienware Graphics Amplifier with your Alienware 13 is that it creates a contradition, since the box hardware is itself quite big, and the only advantage of buying an Alienware 13 instead an Alienware 15 or 18, lies in its portability.
