The ASUS X553SA – A Budget Laptop For Students

If you are looking for a budget laptop and don’t want to buy a chromebook, the ASUS X553SA might be the best choice available for you.

I am personally a fan of the ASUS brand, even if there are many different opinion about this brand, I have never had a bad experience with an ASUS product. In today’s review, we will take a look on the ASUS X553SA specs, one of the cheapest entry level ASUS laptops on the PC market in 2016.

ASUS X553SA Specs

This entry level ASUS laptop has a 15.6 inch LED backlit screen, which is way above the average in terms of dimensions for its price bracket, which is definitely a good start. It has also 500GB of hard drive disk storage, which is probably the best positive point about this machine.

The weakest points on this laptop are its ram, with just 4GB and its processor, an Intel Celeron N3050 which has a quite low benchmark score. To put it short, you will be able to store a lot of stuff in this laptop hard disk, but it will be a quite slow experience to access it.

ASUS X553SA or a Chromeboook

The ASUS X553SA costs virtually the same, or perhaps slightly more, than a number of chromebooks on the retail PC markets, and it can be hard for a buyer to choose which laptop to buy.

The truth is that the ASUS X553SA and Chromebooks have a completely different vocation. While the ASUS X553SA will let you store a lot of data, while running Windows 10, Chromebooks will have a faster performance, but they have extremely limited storage capacity, relying on “cloud data” to manage most of the files it access.

ASUS X553SA for Students

Probably the best audience which would be most satisfied with this ASUS laptop is among high school and college students, which will be able to store all the academic related files they can possibly need, while also having the occasional fun of chatting with friends, using the webcam, and watching videos.

I would personally choose this laptop over a chromebook because it has Windows 10 and can store a lot of things, which I usually do.

ASUS X553SA for Gaming

This laptop can be a good option if you only intend to run older or simpler games, which do not need a lot of processing power, like the worldly famous Minecraft. If you plan to play games which have complex ambients and high quality graphics, probably this laptop is not suitable for you.
