Today we will analyze two of the greatest Acer laptop releases in 2016. The Acer V 15 in its V5-591G-55PV and V5-591G-75YR versions bring a lot of hardware power and an affordable price. This balance helps the Acer V 15 to be one of the best value for money laptop in 2016.

Acer V5-591G-55PV and V5-591G-75YR: Overview

The Acer Aspire series is one of the most diverse laptop series on the market, with models ranging from budget computers to powerful machines with high-end components. In the case of the two versions analyzed here, both the V5-591G-55PV and the V5-591G-75YR feature high-end quad core processors.

Apart from having a powerful quad core processors, these Acer laptops also have a dedicated video card with a pretty good benchmark. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M, which powers both versions listed below, is a mid to high end mobile video card with 2 GB VRAM, which will certainly make the difference if you are willing to run heavy games on your laptop.

Looking from its exterior, it shows that Acer continues to know how to creating appealing designs, and not only on their Predator series. A nice exterior black finish and a backlit keyboard add value to this laptop, as I consider this feature quite useful, especially for gamers.

Both versions analyzed here have almost the same hardware specs, with a few differences when it comes to storage capacity and processor model. These differences are listed below.

Acer V5-591G-55PV: Highlights

This model is powered by the 6th generation Skylake i5-6300HQ quad processor. It has a base frequency of 2.3 GHz, and a max turbo frequency of 3.2 GHz. Even if this is “just an i5” it is actually faster than many i7 processors (the ones which aren’t quad cores).

When it comes to storage, this laptop comes with a 256 GB solid state drive. I personally prefer SSDs since they are faster than HDDs, but normally they have less capacity when components with similar price are compared.

Acer V5-591G-75YR: Highlights

This laptop has a superior processor compared with the Acer V5-591G-55PV. The Acer V5-591G-75YR has an i7-6700HQ which is a quad core and one of the fastest laptop processors currently available.

The V5-591G-75YR has a hard drive disk, with 1 TB of storage capacity. That is more capacity than the V5-591G-55PV SSD, but hard drive disks are considerably slower than solid state drives.
