If you are willing to buy an octacore phone in 2016, you might want to consider two models by this Taiwanese factory: The HTC One A9 32GB or the HTC One M9 32GB?
HTC is a Taiwanese electronics manufacturer, which oddly enough started manufacturing laptops but nowadays devotes almost its entirely product to Android mobile devices.
Recently HTC has lost a sizeable market share in the US, as Apple and Samsung remained the leaders in terms of sold unities. HTC also suffered the impact of the rise of Chinese mainland manufacturers expanding abroad such as Huawei, as well as smaller OEM brands such as BLU, which gained popularity in US markets recently.
However, tbe HTC One series, the flagship of the Taiwanese company is still one of the best Android mobile device series available in my opinion, with beautiful design, extremely powerful hardware and the latest technology built in their devices.
The HTC One A9 32GB and the HTC One M9 32GB
HTC positions itself in the higher end of the market with its HTC One series, rivaling with immediate competitors such as the Samsung S6 / S7, and the Iphone 6 / 6s. Both the One A9 an the One M9 have 16GB and 32GB versions, but the main difference between this models, is that the One A9 is HTC’s newest release, from late 2015.
The main differences between the HTC One A9 32GB and the HTC One M9 32GB are their processors and their cameras, considering that virtually all other aspects in terms of hardware are similar. The HTC One M9 has an Octacore processor (Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 81) which has a considerably great performance according to Geekbench than the HTC One A9, which has a different chipset, the Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617.
The M9 camera is also better, with 20 megapixels versus 13 on the HTC One A9 model. The design of the M9 is slightly more appealing in my opinion, however this is a strictly subjective topic.
Pricewise they are also very similar, so in my personal opinion, if you should choose between one of these models, I’d opt for the HTC One A9 32GB, because it’s more recent and runs on Android 6.0. If you want to buy the M9, it is also a very powerful Android device, but you might want as well to wait for the HTC One M10, which is set to be released in April 2016.
